Boerne is a city in and the county seat of Kendall County, Texas, United States, in the Texas Hill Country. Boerne was named in honor of German author and publicist Ludwig B&ouml;rne. The population of Boerne was 10,471 at the 2010 census, and in 2018 the estimated population was 17,106.
Boerne came into being as an offshoot of the Texas Hill Country&nbsp;Free Thinker&nbsp;Latin Settlements, resulting from the&nbsp;Revolutions of 1848 in the German states. Those who came were&nbsp;Forty-Eighters, intellectual liberal abolitionists who enjoyed conversing in&nbsp;Latin&nbsp;and who believed in utopian ideals that guaranteed basic human rights to all.&nbsp;They reveled in passionate conversations about science, philosophy, literature, and music.&nbsp;The Free Thinkers first settled&nbsp;Castell,&nbsp;Bettina,&nbsp;Leningen,&nbsp;and Schoenburg in&nbsp;Llano County. These experimental communities were supported by the&nbsp;Adelsverein&nbsp;for one year. The communities eventually failed due to lack of finances after the Adelsverein funding expired, and conflicts of structure and authorities. Many of the pioneers from these communities moved to&nbsp;Sisterdale, Boerne, and&nbsp;Comfort.
As of the&nbsp;census&nbsp;of 2000, 6,178 people, 2,292 households, and 1,613 families resided in the city. The&nbsp;population density&nbsp;was 1,061.1 people per square mile (409.9/km2). The 2,466 housing units averaged 423.5 per square mile (163.6/km2). The&nbsp;racial makeup of the city was 94.76% White, 0.36% African American, 0.37% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 3.29% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 19.44% of the population. Of the 2,292 households, 36.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.0% were married couples living together, 10.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.6% were not families. About 25.7% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.10.
In the city, the population was distributed as 26.0% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 23.0% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females, there were 84.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 80.1 males.

Boerne

Fair Oaks Ranch is a city in Bexar, Comal, and Kendall counties in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 5,986 at the 2010 census and an estimated 9,700 in 2018. It is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The land on which Fair Oaks Ranch rests was acquired in the 1930s by Ralph Fair Sr., who worked in the oil industry and owned cattle and racehorses. A residential community was established by Fair's family in the 1970s and the community was incorporated in 1988.

Government Hill is one of six San Antonio suburbs that developed during the "Gilded Age" of the city&rsquo;s history, from 1890 to 1930. The other opulent suburbs of this era are Monte Vista, Alamo Heights, West End (Woodlawn Lake area), Tobin Hill, and Laurel Heights. Each neighborhood features fine examples of turn-of-the-century architecture. The Government Hill Historic District is located immediately south of Fort Sam Houston and is bounded by E. Grayson Street to the north, N. New Braunfels Avenue to the east, IH-35 to the south, and Willow Street to the west. The turn-of-the-century one and two-story commercial structures along North New Braunfels Avenue effectively served as the area's main street. The history of the Government Hill is integrally linked to that of Fort Sam Houston. Initial development of the fort began in the mid 1870s with a donation by the City of San Antonio of 93 acres to the War Department. Construction of Fort Sam Houston began in 1876, and by the late nineteenth century the surrounding area of Government Hill was home to over 12,000 people. The area grew at a prolific rate during the World War I era, and by 1918 Fort Sam Houston included 193 acres.

Dignowity Hill was San Antonio&rsquo;s first exclusive residential suburb. The area was settled by Dr. Anthony Michael Dignowity, a physician and Czech immigrant, who built his family home on a hill to the east of town and called it Harmony House. During the latter part of the nineteenth century, Dignowity Hill, as it became known, was home to prominent San Antonio merchants and business owners who constructed large estates. Dignowity Hill was an exclusive and affluent residential area in San Antonio due to its high elevation, proximity to downtown, the size of the lots, and lack of city water, which required residents to construct expensive water collecting systems.

Tobin Hill is home to some of San Antonio&rsquo;s best metropolitan amenities. With its strong community association, easy access to most of San Antonio&rsquo;s major attractions, and its Commercial Revitalization, Tax Increment Reinvestment, and Opportunity Zones, Tobin Hill is restoring its historic buildings and attracting new businesses, families, and individuals who want to enjoy urban living. Tobin Hill&rsquo;s Boundaries are directly north of Downtown San Antonio and part of midtown. Boundaried on the north by Monte Vista and Trinity University; on the west by San Pedro Ave. and San Antonio College; the East by Hwy 281, Pearl Brewery and the River Walk&rsquo;s new Museum Reach; and the South by I-35 and the internationally award-winning River North District.*

Bulverde, Texas is a city in Comal County. Bulverde dates back to the period 2,500 to 600 B.C. when the Native Americans lived in the area. The area was known for their arrowheads known as Bulverde Point, which can still be found in the city today. In 1880&rsquo;s, Bulverde was a great stopping point for travelers. Travelers come to Bulverde from all over to escape the demanding city lifestyle. The tranquil, soothing atmosphere in Bulverde is difficult to find in todays society. Bulverde, Texas is known as home to MLB Baseball Player Jason LaRue, musician Augie Meyers, and former republican member of the Texas House of Representatives Nathan Macias.
Opportunities for recreation, adventure, and fun are abundant in Bulverde. Bulverde is home to amazing cycling and running roads. The hilly terrain is filled with remarkable views of Texas Hill Country. Live oak trees and blooming wildflowers often line the roads of Bulverde. Bulverde is only an 18 minute drive away from Guadalupe River State Park in Spring Branch. This state park is one of the most beautiful parks in Texas. Visitors can take pleasure in tubing, hiking, fishing, camping, swimming, picnicking, and canoeing. Honey Creek State Natural Area is a guided walking tour in Guadalupe River State Park. Individuals on the tour can see two miles worth of incredible flora and fauna. Enjoy a traditional Texas rodeo every Saturday night at Tejas Rodeo Company. The Tejas Rodeo Company does an excellent job of providing a thrilling and entertaining experience for all of their guests. No place in San Antonio has drawn generations of family weekends like Woodlawn Lake. Flip through any S.A. family photo album, and chances are there's a snapshot or two of toddlers feeding ducks, teens lazing on the pier and granddads fishing.The vision of 19th century real estate developers, Woodlawn Lake was built to attract residents to what was then a subdivision on the rural west side of San Antonio. Through the years, it featured vaudeville acts and outdoor movies, added fishing piers, boat docks, running trails and raspa trucks. Woodlawn Lake&nbsp;is now considered one of San Antonio&rsquo;s urban core neighborhoods, but when it was first developed in the late 19th century, it helped create a new frontier for the city&rsquo;s growth. The neighborhood, on the near Northwest Side, was among the first subdivisions built outside San Antonio&rsquo;s city limits when three investors laid its groundwork in 1887 through their company, the&nbsp;West End Town Company. The area, which was at the end of a streetcar line, was known then as &ldquo;West End."

During the late 1920s, a group of developers that included Leo S. Karren, H. C. Thormann, who also developed Olmos Park, and C. M. Furr, transformed a dairy farm owned by George Calvert into one of the most desirable neighborhoods in San Antonio. The Monticello Park Historic District is composed of an eclectic mix of architectural styles, ranging from Art Moderne to Spanish Eclectic and Tudor Revival. One of the most well-known architects to live and design buildings within the historic district was N. Strauss Nayfach. He designed about 40 of the homes in the neighborhood, in addition to prominent San Antonio and Texas buildings, such as the downtown Alameda Theater and one of the buildings at the University of Texas at Austin&rsquo;s School of Architecture. The latest phase of the Monticello Park Historic District, including the 1900 and 2000 blocks from W. Gramercy to the north side of W. Woodlawn, was recently approved by City Council on May 6th, 2010!

With majestic homes, Mission Reach, romantic restaurants and friendly watering holes, the King William Historic District is no doubt one of the coolest places in San Antonio.&nbsp; According to the new ranking by Thrillest, it is&nbsp; actually the &ldquo;most beautiful historic neighborhood&rdquo; in Texas. Just south of downtown, it ranked&nbsp;as the 11th-prettiest neighborhood in the country, citing its Greek revival, Victorian and Italianate architecture.

San Antonio is the seventh-most populous city in the United States, and the second-most populous city in both Texas and the Southern United States, with more than 1.5 million residents. Founded as a Spanish mission and colonial outpost in 1718, the city became the first chartered civil settlement in present-day Texas in 1731. The area was still part of the Spanish Empire, and later of the Mexican Republic. Today it is the state's oldest municipality.
The city's deep history is contrasted with its rapid recent growth during the past few decades. It was the fastest-growing of the top ten largest cities in the United States from 2000 to 2010, and the second from 1990 to 2000. Straddling the regional divide between South and Central Texas, San Antonio anchors the southwestern corner of an urban megaregion colloquially known as the "Texas Triangle".
San Antonio serves as the seat of Bexar County; recent annexations have extended the city's boundaries into Medina Countyand, for a tiny area near the city of Garden Ridge, into Comal County Since San Antonio was founded during the Spanish Colonial Era, it has a church (San Fernando Cathedral) in its center, on the main civic plaza in front, a characteristic of many Spanish-founded cities, towns, and villages in Spain and Latin America. As with many other urban centers in the Southwestern United States, areas outside the city limits are sparsely populated.
San Antonio is the center of the San Antonio–New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area. Commonly called Greater San Antonio, the metro area has a population of 2,473,974 based on the 2017 U.S. census estimate, making it the 24th-largest metropolitan area in the United States and third-largest in Texas. Growth along the Interstate 35 and Interstate 10 corridors to the north, west and east make it likely that the metropolitan area will continue to expand.
San Antonio was named by a 1691 Spanish expedition for Saint Anthony of Padua, whose feast day is June 13. The city contains five 18th-century Spanish frontier missions, including The Alamo and San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, which together were designated UNESCO World Heritage sites in 2015. Other notable attractions include the River Walk, the Tower of the Americas, SeaWorld, the Alamo Bowl, and Marriage Island. Commercial entertainment includes Six Flags Fiesta Texasand Morgan's Wonderland amusement parks. According to the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau, the city is visited by about 32 million tourists a year. It is home to the five-time NBA champion San Antonio Spurs, and hosts the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, one of the largest such events in the U.S.
The U.S. Armed Forces have numerous facilities in and around San Antonio; Fort Sam Houston is the only one within the city limits. Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base, Lackland AFB/Kelly Field Annex, Camp Bullis, and Camp Stanley are outside the city limits. Kelly Air Force Base operated out of San Antonio until 2001, when the airfield was transferred to Lackland AFB. The remaining parts of the base were developed as Port San Antonio, an industrial/business park and aerospace complex. San Antonio is home to six Fortune 500 companies and the South Texas Medical Center, the only medical research and care provider in the South Texas region.
